MS State Seeks Communication Instructor
The Department of Communication at Mississippi State University seeks applicants for an instructor position beginning August 2011. The department consists of almost 550 undergraduate majors in five concentrations (Broadcasting, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, and Theatre).

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the activities below. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses in the department based on curricular needs and background of the faculty member. Departmental instructors typically teach four classes per each fall and spring semester. There is an expectation that this instructor will teach four online courses each semester. Additional summer, overload, and intensive classes may also be available.
Service may include advising majors and student organizations, developing curriculum in consultation with other faculty, and serving on committees. It is expected that this faculty member will work with other faculty in the department and colleagues in Academic Outreach and Continuing Education to increase online enrollments for the position to remain funded.
Teaching experience and work experience in one or more appropriate communication fields are preferred for this position. The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of the field and a willingness to participate collegially in a broad department. Colleagues must be able to communicate that knowledge in the classroom environment to students as well as to other important groups through service.
