The Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF) recognizes outstanding work in the field of public relations through its annual Lantern Awards program. Awards, including Certificates of Merit, Awards of Excellence and Lantern Awards, are given in 25 categories. From those, the judges also select the Best of Show Award and two Judges’ Choice Awards.
The deadline for entries in the 2012 Lantern Awards program is July 2, and the extended deadline is July 13. Entry fees are $55 per entry (May 1-July 2) and go up to $65 per entry (July 3-13). There will be no additional extended deadline after July 13. For more information or to submit your entries, visit the entry website. Winners will be announced during the SPRF conference Oct. 7-9, 2012, in Destin, Fla.
In 2011, during the SPRF conference in Point Clear, Ala., Robin Street, APR, and 14 PR students from the University of Mississippi received the William A. Taylor Best of Show Award for their Diversity Rocks! campaign, also a winner in the Internal PR Campaigns category.
A Judges’ Choice Award was presented to the University of Alabama Capstone Agency for the Century Council for its grant/proposal writing entry, “Less Than UThink.” A second Judges’ Choice Award went to the Hattiesburg Clinic for its entry in the Reputation/Brand Management: Integrated Marketing Communications Programs category.
