Faulk Named SPRF UAB Rep

Marian R. Faulk, APR, has been named SPRF's new Universal Accreditation Board member. She was elected to serve as UAB representative by a unanimous vote of SPRF's UAB committee.

A member of the Public Relations Council of Alabama since 1994, Faulk has been in the practice of public relations since transitioning from a journalism career in the early ‘90s.  She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree from Spring Hill College.  She has been in her current position as Director of Marketing at Springhill Medical Center since 2002.  Earning the Accreditation in Public Relations credential was a major goal for Marian, which she achieved in 2000 following her tenure as president of the PRCA Mobile Chapter Board.  She has served in several positions on the local and state PRCA boards, as well as various positions on the Southern Public Relations Federation Board.  She has earned multiple Medallions and Lantern awards for her work during her career and is a past President of the SPRF Board.  She is also an SPRF Senior Practitioner and was selected in Alabama as the PRCA Practitioner of the Year in 2002.  She most recently chaired the Accreditation position on the Mobile Chapter PRCA Board for two years in 2015 & 2016 where she enjoyed assisting other practitioners with earning their APR credentials.  Marian has served as a judge for numerous PR organizations’ awards programs and writing contests and has been involved with various stages of item writing for the Accreditation in Public Relations Examination over the years.  Early in her PR career, she co-authored A Public Relations Handbook.  She is a graduate of Leadership Mobile and has served as an adjunct instructor at both the University of South Alabama and Spring Hill College.  She has been an active volunteer in the community her entire life, serving on such boards as the Literacy Council and Mobile Opera, as well as a volunteer for United Way, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Leukemia and Lymphoma Association, and the American Red Cross.  She is a very busy mother of two boys, ages 16 and 11, and lives in Mobile where she and her family enjoy many outdoor activities including camping, hiking, shooting sports, land management, cycling, and water sports.
